About Us
Hey, thank you for being here, it means a lot to me. If this is your first time here, we are a drift-inspired automotive brand. We photograph and shoot videos of drift cars, classic cars, and pretty much anything cool on four wheels (or two) we come across. We also love to tell the stories of the people who build these amazing machines. So if you like fast cars, drifting, classic Japanese cars, and the like, you're in the right place.
How it came to be.
So, I started What Monsters Do around 2012 as a way to catalog my leftover/unused automotive photography. Basically, I would attend drift and other race events, shoot what I needed for clients then would stick around to shoot the entire event on my own time. I had all these leftover photos and decided to start a Facebook and Tumblr page to share some of my work. This was when Facebook was poppin' - the good-ol-days 🥲. Our Facebook page caught on and the rest is history.
We started blogging, partnering with drivers, working with automotive brands, and collaborating with influencers. Our following began to grow - nothing huge but we were and are super proud of the following we gained. We integrated merch right around the 3rd year and that took things to the next level. We started with two styles of t-shirts and one sticker. About a year later, we nailed down about 12 styles and have had trouble keeping them in stock ever since. Our drifting-inspired merch was definitely a jolt to our brand. Not to brag but we would absolutely kill it at events.
We design everything in-house so seeing hundreds of drift fans in the stands wearing our merch would always put a smile on my face. Hope you like what we're doing here at WMD and consider subscribing - really helps keep us going.
The name: We get this question a lot. We know it's a bit of an odd name... but here is a quick recap of how we landed on the name What Monsters Do. I was at Formula Drift New Jersey watching a few practice runs, after one of the runs I look over to a fan whos watching with me and I say "that 240 is a monster" he said "that's what monsters do" and walked away. It stuck with me, I bought the domain name and that was that.
If you subscribe today, you'll get full access to the website as well as email newsletters about new content when it's available. Your subscription makes this site possible and allows WHAT MONSTERS DO to continue to exist. Thank you!
A big Thank You! 🙏
A big thank you to anyone who has ever shared a post, purchased WMD merch, and shown us love throughout the years. Also, a big thank you to all the companies, partners, and drivers who have helped keep WMD going all these years!
